There was no shortage of glamour at the 31st Cairns Business Women’s Club Annual Awards, fittingly hosted in the Pacific International’s ballroom last Saturday night. It was impossible not to be awed by so many talented and inspirational women! Among the 250-plus guests were the finalists competing for the seven awards, each looking every bit the winner. Categories included; Business Woman of the Year, Small Business Owner, Manager of the Year, Sole Entrepreneur, Young Entrepreneur, Indigenous Business Woman and the Michelle Commins Volunteer of the Year. All went to well-deserving women who are making a passionate contribution to local business. In addition to finding an outfit for the event (thanks to Mel Kelly from Lending Luxury) and organising a glam squad to accompany me (Emma Moylan from MAC at Cairns Airport), this week I officially started the Diploma of Social Media Marketing through Rii Skills Centre, facilitated by Social Butterfly Marketing founder Renee Dembowski. This is the only accredited diploma in Australia and, so far, I’m loving it!
